About Us

A family that builds what their community needs.

We're the Greenwoods — Al, Joanne, and family. Damn Good Liquor is the latest chapter in a long story of finding gaps in our community and rolling up our sleeves to fill them.

Our Mission

Supporting good people and strong communities.

Everything we do — from sourcing what's on the shelves to sponsoring the kids' hockey team — comes back to one idea: small towns thrive when local businesses give a damn.

Family-owned, locally rooted
Two stores, one family, and decades of skin in the game.
Community-first thinking
If our towns win, we win. That's the whole strategy.
Proudly rural Alberta
We were raised here, we live here, and we'll always be here.
Our Journey

An Alberta timeline.

    Hayter roots

Al and Joanne Greenwood move to their acreage near Hayter, Alberta — raising a family and running a potable water trucking business.

    Damn Good Water Co.

Acquired The Water Shop and grew it into a full destination for wellness products, water treatment, smoker pellets, and outdoor living goods.

  3. 2021
    Damn Good Liquor — Provost

Took over the long-standing Provost Liquor Store and reimagined it as a more welcoming, community-driven shop.

  4. 2024
    Edgerton expansion

Acquired Sand Dunes Liquor in Edgerton, opening Damn Good Liquor's second location.

Beyond Liquor

There's a sister store, too.

Damn Good Water Co. carries water treatment, wellness products, smoker pellets, and outdoor living goods — the kinds of things rural Alberta actually needs. Same family, same values, same handshake.
